Free RE1 practice exam (20 questions, 2026)

Twenty questions drawn from the PassPath RE1 bank, marked in your browser the moment you finish, with the Act, section or FSCA criterion behind every answer. No signup, no card, and nothing is sent anywhere.

PassPath is an independent study tool. The RE1 is written through Moonstone under the FSCA, and we are not affiliated with either. These are our own questions, written against the FSCA's published qualifying criteria. They are not the exam's questions, and nobody outside the examination body has those.

Before you start

  • Twenty multiple-choice questions. One correct answer each.
  • There is no timer on this page. The real RE1 is sat in person at a Moonstone venue.
  • Nothing is sent anywhere. The marking happens in your browser and we do not store your answers or ask for your email.
  • You can change any answer before you submit.
  • After you submit you get your score, the correct answer for every question, and the source behind it.

The standard on this page

The real RE1 bar is 52 correct out of 80, which is 65%. The FSCA sets one 65% pass mark for the regulatory examinations, and on an 80-question paper that lands exactly on 52, so unlike the RE5 there is no rounding and no second percentage to reconcile. On this 20-question mock the equivalent standard is 13 of 20, which is the same 65% applied to a fifth of the paper.

How this mock is marked

Your answers stay in your browser. There is no submit to a server, no account, and no email capture in the way of your result. Press submit and the marking happens on the page.

You get three things: a score, a row per RE1 task showing how many you cleared in each, and every question again with the correct answer and the instrument behind it.

The per-task rows are the useful part. A score of 13 tells you very little on its own; 13 with everything missed sitting in two tasks tells you where to spend the next fortnight.

The RE1 pass mark, and what 13 of 20 means

The RE1 is 80 multiple-choice questions and the pass mark is 52 correct, which is 65% [FSCA, Regulatory Examinations FAQ]. The FSCA publishes one 65% rule for the regulatory examinations, and the RE1 is the paper where it lands on a whole number, so there is no rounding argument to have.

Thirteen of 20 is that same 65% applied to a fifth of the paper. It is the standard this page marks you against, and it is stated before you start rather than after.

How close this is to the real exam

Close in format and honest about the rest. Four options, one correct answer, no negative marking, and questions written against the FSCA's published qualifying criteria, which is the list the real paper is set from.

Not close in length or conditions. The real RE1 is 80 questions over 2 hours 30 minutes, in person, under invigilation, and concentration across a paper that long is its own skill that no 20-question page can test.

Not close in coverage either, and this is the one to take seriously. The RE1 has sixteen task areas and 144 published criteria. Twenty questions touch all sixteen tasks precisely so that no row on your result reads zero of zero, but most tasks get one question. One question is a sample of a sample.

Nobody outside the examination body has the real questions. Anything advertised as the actual RE1 exam questions is not what it says it is.

What to do with your result

If you cleared 13 or better, treat it as a reason to keep going rather than a reason to book. Do it again in a fortnight and see whether the same tasks hold.

If you fell short, read the per-task rows before anything else. The pattern that matters is whether the misses cluster. Two tasks at zero is a fortnight of specific work; a scatter of single misses across ten tasks is a different problem and needs a different fix.

Either way, the honest next measurement is a longer one. This page samples sixteen tasks with twenty questions, which is enough to find a glaring gap and not enough to clear you.

No, and nobody outside the examination body has those. These are our own questions, written against the FSCA's published qualifying criteria, which is the same list the real paper is set from. Anything advertised as the actual exam questions is not what it says it is.

No. Twenty questions across sixteen task areas is a sample, and most tasks get one question here. A good score says your foundations are sound; it cannot tell you whether a task you have never studied would sink you.

The RE1 is for Key Individuals, the people who manage and oversee an FSP. The RE5 is for representatives, the people who advise clients. The RE1 is the longer paper at 80 questions over 2 hours 30 minutes, against the RE5's 50 over 2 hours.
