RE5 Exam Dates 2026: The Full Sitting Schedule

No. Each venue runs its own sittings, so the dates differ by city. Larger centres run sittings most weeks, while smaller centres run them about once a month. Check the venue you plan to write at rather than assuming a national date.

As early as you can. When this schedule was captured on 2 Nov 2026, 28 of the 414 sittings listed were already fully booked, so a popular venue on a convenient date can be gone weeks ahead. Booking early also protects you against the registration deadline, which falls 11 working days before the exam.

The fee is R1 300 per exam per candidate, VAT inclusive. It is set by the FSCA and paid to Moonstone. Payment is due within 24 hours of booking, or the booking is cancelled.

Most sittings serve both exams. A small number of sittings exclude RE1, so check the Exams offered detail for the sitting you want before you book. The schedule on this page marks which sittings include RE1.

Registration closes 11 working days before the exam, and a late booking is not accepted for that sitting. You book the next available sitting instead. That is why the deadline, not the exam date, is the one to diarise.

This schedule covers 33 venues across South Africa. Venues are added and removed over time, so the list here reflects what the portal showed on 2 Nov 2026.

Work backwards from the date you book, not forwards from today. There is no average that fits everybody, because the honest answer depends on how much of the syllabus you already know, so sit the free readiness check first: it is 16 questions, it takes about 15 minutes, and it scores you against the pass mark so you can see the size of the job before you commit your evenings. Leave room for the deadline too. Registration closes 11 working days before the exam, and results can take up to 20 working days afterwards.

You book another sitting and you pay R1 300 again. There is no rewrite discount and no re-registration: you log in to the booking portal, book the next date that suits you, and pay within 24 hours. There is no stated limit on attempts. The constraint that bites is your DOFA deadline, because one full cycle is up to 20 working days for the result, 11 working days of registration lead time for the next attempt, and up to 20 working days for that result. That is 51 working days of administration before any studying, which is why it is worth sitting your first attempt roughly three to four months before the deadline rather than weeks before.

If you want to prepare for the next attempt, the full RE5 course is R299, one payment, 180 days of access.
