Writing on one of these dates? Check whether you are ready.

The free readiness check is 16 questions and takes about 15 minutes. It samples every RE5 topic, scores you against the real pass mark, 66% (33 of 50 correct), and shows you which topics are below the line. No card is needed.

The full RE5 course, R299

One-time payment, 180 days of access, no auto-renew.

Your daily plan mixes spaced-repetition reviews with focused practice on your weakest topics, so the time between today and the date you book goes to the topics costing you marks rather than the ones you already know. 180 days of access covers a sitting months out, and a rewrite if it comes to that.

Full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have not started the course content. See the Refund & Access policy.

When booking closes

When does booking close?

Registration closes 11 working days before the exam. Working days means Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays. The deadline, not the exam date, is the one to diarise.

Worked example. The next sitting on this page is Thu 5 Nov 2026. Counting back 11 working days puts the registration deadline on Wed 21 Oct 2026. Public holidays are skipped in this calculation. Always confirm the exact deadline on faisexam.co.za.

Work out the deadline for your own date with the calculator near the top of this page.

How do I book?

How much does the RE5 exam cost?

The fee is R1 300 per exam per candidate, VAT inclusive. It is set by the FSCA. Payment is due within 24 hours of booking, or the booking is cancelled. A rewrite means paying the fee again.

Frequently asked questions

On the current schedule, 2 venues in the Free State run RE5 sittings: Bloemfontein - Rusplek Guesthouse and Conference Centre and Bethlehem Oos NG Kerk. Venues change over time, so check the schedule on this page before you book.

The current schedule lists 20 sittings in the Free State. About once a week or more: Bloemfontein - Rusplek Guesthouse and Conference Centre. About monthly: Bethlehem Oos NG Kerk.

No. Each venue runs its own sittings, so the dates differ by city. Larger centres run sittings most weeks, while smaller centres run them about once a month. Check the venue you plan to write at rather than assuming a national date.

As early as you can. When this schedule was captured on 2 Nov 2026, 30 of the 423 sittings listed were already fully booked, so a popular venue on a convenient date can be gone weeks ahead. Booking early also protects you against the registration deadline, which falls 11 working days before the exam.

The fee is R1 300 per exam per candidate, VAT inclusive. It is set by the FSCA and paid to Moonstone. Payment is due within 24 hours of booking, or the booking is cancelled.

Most sittings serve both exams. A small number of sittings exclude RE1, so check the Exams offered detail for the sitting you want before you book. The schedule on this page marks which sittings include RE1.

Registration closes 11 working days before the exam, and a late booking is not accepted for that sitting. You book the next available sitting instead. That is why the deadline, not the exam date, is the one to diarise.

This schedule covers 33 venues across South Africa. Venues are added and removed over time, so the list here reflects what the portal showed on 2 Nov 2026.

Work backwards from the date you book, not forwards from today. There is no average that fits everybody, because the honest answer depends on how much of the syllabus you already know, so sit the free readiness check first: it is 16 questions, it takes about 15 minutes, and it scores you against the pass mark so you can see the size of the job before you commit your evenings. Leave room for the deadline too. Registration closes 11 working days before the exam, and results can take up to 20 working days afterwards.

You book another sitting and you pay R1 300 again. There is no rewrite discount and no re-registration: you log in to the booking portal, book the next date that suits you, and pay within 24 hours. There is no stated limit on attempts. The constraint that bites is your DOFA deadline, because one full cycle is up to 20 working days for the result, 11 working days of registration lead time for the next attempt, and up to 20 working days for that result. That is 51 working days of administration before any studying, which is why it is worth sitting your first attempt roughly three to four months before the deadline rather than weeks before.

If you want to prepare for the next attempt, the full RE5 course is R299, one payment, 180 days of access.

You have your date. Find out today where you stand.

The PassPath readiness assessment is 16 questions and takes about 15 minutes. It is free, no card is required, and it scores you against the real pass mark for the RE5, 66% (33 of 50 correct). Booking a date and knowing whether you are ready for it are two different things.

PassPath is an independent preparation tool. The exam is set and administered through Moonstone under the FSCA.
