The standard on this page
The real RE5 bar is 33 correct out of 50, which is 66%. The FSCA sets the pass mark for the regulatory examinations at 65%, and on a 50-question paper 65% is 32.5, so with no half marks the first score that clears it is 33. That is one and the same rule. On this 20-question mock the equivalent standard is 14 of 20. Thirteen would be 65% of 20, but at that rate on the real paper you would land on 32 and fall short, so we use the stricter number.
How is this mock exam marked?
Out of 20, one mark per question, no partial credit, exactly the way the real paper marks. The standard on this page is 14 of 20. That is the 20-question equivalent of the real RE5 bar of 33 correct out of 50, which is 66% [FSCA, Regulatory Examinations FAQ]. Your score is also broken down by RE5 task, because the real exam samples across all eight tasks and a weak task is what usually costs people the paper, not weak knowledge in general.
What is the RE5 pass mark?
The FSCA sets the pass mark for the regulatory examinations at 65% [FSCA, Regulatory Examinations FAQ]. On the RE5's 50 questions, 65% is 32.5, and there is no half mark, so the first whole score that clears it is 33. Thirty-three of 50 is 66%. How close is this to the real RE5 exam?
The question style, the four-option format and the marking are the same. Three things are not. The real paper is 50 questions, not 20. It is sat in person at a Moonstone venue. And it draws across all eight RE5 tasks in the FSCA qualifying criteria, whereas 20 questions can only sample them [FSCA RE5 Preparation Guideline 2026, Appendix A]. Nobody outside the examination body has the live questions, and any site claiming to sell them is not selling what it says it is.
What should I do with my result?
If you scored at or above 14, do not book on the strength of it. Twenty questions cannot tell you which of the eight tasks is thin, and that is what decides the real paper. If you scored below 14, the fix is almost never to re-read everything. Find the two or three weak tasks and rebuild those. Either way the next step is the same: measure per task before you spend R1 300 on a sitting [Moonstone, Regulatory Examination Registration, 1 October 2024].
