What is PassPath?
Last updated: August 2026
PassPath is South African exam-preparation software for the FAIS regulatory exams: RE5 for Representatives and RE1 for Key Individuals. It measures your readiness against the real pass marks (RE5 66%, which is 33 of 50 correct; RE1 65%, which is 52 of 80), maps your weak spots per exam task, and trains them with adaptive practice and timed mock exams.

Who makes PassPath?
PassPath is built by PASSPATH (PTY) LTD, a South African company founded by Brandon van Niekerk. He previously built a bank for financial services providers (FSPs), and watched too many careers stall behind one exam.
Which exams does PassPath cover?
PassPath covers two exams. RE5 is the regulatory exam for Representatives and RE1 is the regulatory exam for Key Individuals. The FSCA sets the pass mark at 65% for both. On the RE5’s 50 questions that means 33 correct answers, which is 66%; on the RE1’s 80 questions it is exactly 52. Both are FAIS regulatory exams, set and administered through Moonstone under the FSCA.
The exam fee is R1 300 per attempt, VAT inclusive. That fee is paid to Moonstone, not to PassPath. PassPath is an independent product and is not affiliated with Moonstone or the FSCA.
We maintain the current sitting schedule for both exams: RE5 exam dates and RE1 exam dates.
Free tier
Is there a free version?
Yes. Signing up is free and no card is required. The free tier includes the full readiness assessment and 5 practice questions a day. The readiness assessment is 16 questions and takes about 15 minutes. It samples every topic on your exam and returns your readiness score and your topic heat map.
PassPath for teams
PassPath Teams adds a manager dashboard on top of the same study engine each learner uses. Seats start at R329 per seat and are bought in batches of 2 or more. It is built for FSPs, brokerages, insurers and call centres that need every representative through the exam inside a deadline.
